Celebrating the Narconon Program's 43rd Anniversary

February 19, 2009

The Narconon® program: saving lives for 43 years today!

On this date in 1966, Narconon founder William “Willie” Benitez, Arizona State Prison inmate, convinced prison officials to give him permission to start the first Narconon program inside the prison walls.

So on our 43rd anniversary, Narconon International would like to acknowledge all the dedicated staff who have worked in our drug rehabilitation and prevention centers, all of our volunteers and contributors who have supported our work, and the tens of thousands of graduates who have successfully kicked their habit and give hope to others that a drug-free life is possible.

In celebration of Narconon’s 43rd anniversary, Governor Brad Henry officially proclaimed February 19, 2009 as Narconon Arrowhead Day in Oklahoma for their continuing service to the community.

At this website page, Narconon history, you will find the opening chapter of the Narconon story; a story which has unfolded for the past 43 years. The Narconon network has expanded to 44 countries around the world, with over 125 drug rehabilitation and prevention centers and groups saving lives every day.
